Wims attended [[Florida A&M University]] for the summer and fall of 2004 before transferring.<ref name="fiu" />

At [[Florida International University]], Wims became one of the top sprinters in the Sun Belt Conference. He anchored a 4x100-meter relay that broke the school record in seven consecutive races and qualified for the NCAA Championship as the third-ranked team in the east region.<ref name="fiu" />

In the summer of 2005, Wims placed fifth in the 100-meter dash at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships in a time of 10.71 seconds, earning USA Junior All-American honors and qualifying for the [[Pan American Games]] in Ontario, Canada. == Coaching Career ==

Wims returned to the United States and transitioned into coaching. He served as head track and cross country coach at Windsor Academy High School and worked as a Fire Sergeant for the City of Perry, Georgia before entering college coaching.<ref name="bc" />

His collegiate coaching stops have included [[Mercer University]], [[South Carolina State University]], the [[University of Central Arkansas]], and [[Boston College]], where he has served as assistant coach for sprints, hurdles, and relays.<ref name="bc" />
